Last-minute Megillah thoughts for Shushan Purim

Here's a link to one of my own favorite Purim posts, "Ad lo yada--a non-drinker still has trouble telling the difference between the hero and the villain."

And here's my defense of Vashti at yesterday's Seudah: Vashti doesn't get sufficient credit for being a tzanua (modest) woman. Seriously, what tzanua woman in her right mind would want to appear before a roomful of drunken men? Perhaps I still had this rather blunt-spoken post by WestBankMama in the back of my mind. I think it's entirely possible that Vashti could have been concerned not only for her modesty, but also for her physical safety.
